during boot fails to get x, flashes then keyboard is off

I installed ubuntu 10.04 yersteday using the excellent fly's tuto,
but this morning booting on ubuntu doesn't work anymore.
At boot, the screen flashes multiple times, in a loop,
the keyboard become unresponsive,and force me to reboot.
I think that's something common with linux.
I saw some threads about similar problem by editing the kernel,
like putting splash screen off etc, nomodeset, but it didn't worked for me
.
so if you have an idea cheers =)
