Hi,

After reading the procedure available at http://www.fit-pc.com/wiki/index.php/BIOS_Update, I wonder what is the correct way to update Fi-pc2i BIOS to the lastest version.

1 ) What is the correct ".ROM" file to pick?
There are two files with ".ROM" extension in the "2GB" folder extracted from BIOS_20-10-2013_PXE.ZIP

1. DEVEL55X.ROM
2. FLASHABL.ROM

Are they both needed? Do they need to be applied sequentially?

2 ) What is the " RTL8111F boot ROM update" stands for?
Is it needed even after applying BIOS upgrade http://fit-pc.com/download/fit-pc2i/bio ... 13_PXE.ZIP?
Eventually what is the upgrade path for http://fit-pc.com/download/fit-pc2i/bio ... UPDATE.ZIP

I'll be glad if you could clarify the update path (with details) so that I would update my Fit-pc2i BIOS.

1. Both BIOS update files should be used according to instructions:
http://www.fit-pc.com/wiki/index.php/BIOS_Update

2. Realtek RTL8111F Ethernet controller boot ROM (or firmware) require to be updated in order to be able to perform PXE Boot (Linux boot from remote location). It is required to change the way the device is detected during BOOT – for that purpose RTL8111F internal boot ROM is updated.

If you don't need this option, so it is not required.
Both required to be updated only once.

Your input does not really clarify the whole thing... Assume that I prepared a thumb drive/USB key containing "DEVEL55X.ROM" + "FLASHABL.ROM" + "pg8168.exe" + "update.bat"

Do I need to run the BIOS update for EACH file (1 for each ROM file + PXE update), aka go through the following steps? in what order?

• Boot to DOS using the prepared USB key
• Type SFlash16.exe DEVEL55X.ROM /Force
• Wait until completion - a message "Flash memory has been successfully programmed"
• Reboot
• Boot to DOS using the prepared USB key
• Type SFlash16.exe FLASHABL.ROM /Force
• Wait until completion - a message "Flash memory has been successfully programmed"
• Reboot
• Boot to DOS using the prepared USB key
• Run update.bat
• Wait until completion - a message "Flash memory has been successfully programmed"
• Reboot

It is straightforward.
Prepare the disk-on-key (on any PC) according to the instructions per its OS.
Then copy all the needed files to the root directory of your prepared disk on key, and follow the update procedure only once.
