opengl drives - are there updates?

Hi all,
I am using fit-pc2 with ubuntu 9.04 (following Denis post of how to install) for few weeks.
Graphics doesn't look great (my application is QT based) and I have to get better results.
I understood that drivers supposed to be updated soon, isn't it?
Can someone provide expacted timeline of supported opengl drivers for linux and windows?
also are there any opengl drivers for ubuntu without X (e.g. server edition)?
