Hi,
Since very beginning (about a year ago) I had this problem -- my desktop doesn't use entire screen (leaves ~1" border on every side). Using monitor's native resolution (1920x1080). Currently my fitlet is running Linux Mint (Rafaela).
Problem seem to be suspiciously similar to this one:

I didn't try that solution yet as I am wary of messing with stuff I do not properly understand. Did anyone else had same problem?
Thanks,
Michael.

Re: desktop does not use entire screen (leaves ~1 inch borde
That sounds like more of an overscan/underscan problem. I had the same issue until I set the display driver to 0% overscan.
I use XFCE so it may be different, but in AMD Catalyst Control Center choose Display Manager and then the adjustments tab. You can adjust the image and scaling options and preview the results.

Yes, you were correct -- underscan was set to 8%. No idea why -- maybe my monitor was detected as TV?
