Re: EMGD 1.16 driver on Linux Mint 13 MATE
Code:
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-updates main restricted universe multiverse
This failed when doing apt-get update. Looks like ubuntu has removed the maverick stuff from their archive. Is there a workaround? Why is it needed to downgrade xorg?

Re: Debian/squeeze installation: ok out-of-the box
You know, since I'm dual booting, I haven't even tried making those work under Debian 6. However, I'm trying to figure out an issue with my setup, which is when I shutdown from within Mint, sometimes the machine will not turn off. The screen will be blank but the Power LED remains on. Anyway, this m...

Re: Debian/squeeze installation: ok out-of-the box
That's fine. I'm dual-booting Debian 6.0.1 and Mint 9 now. You installation guide is very helpful.

How is the video driver working? Can you play 1080P movie or even get compiz working with it?

DisplayLink USB dongle prevents Win 7 from shutdown properly
When I use my DisplayLink chip based USB dongle as the only monitor Windows 7 couldn't shutdown properly. The screen will just freeze and I'll have to press & hold the power button to shut it off or unplug the power. I have the latest BIOS, Win 7 pro with the latest video drivers and the latest Disp...

Re: Windows XP Vs Windows 7
Windows 7 works pretty well with Aero turned off. 1080P playback also works great using DXVA under Windows 7.

Re: DisplayLink device under Windows 7 and Windows XPSP3
With the latest GMA500 driver from Intel (dated 12/3/2009, version 6.14.11.1018), I was able to use the USB video dongle without a monitor plugged in the HDMI/DVI port. Note that you need to set the USB display as your main desktop. I don't know if this helped but when running the driver's setup.exe...

Re: Mac OS X
I don't think OSx86 supports the Poulsbo chipset. It'd be really nice if next Fit-PC model can use the NVidia ION platform. Then you'll be able to install OSX86 on it.

Re: DisplayLink device under Windows 7 and Windows XPSP3
Hi benjgil, to answer your question: I never tried playing HD over the USB to VGA adapter. What I meant was the IEGD driver's HD playback over HDMI is poorer than the GMA500 driver. Sorry for the confusion. But I did try playing DVD movie over the adapter on a 1280x1024 resolution and that worked ve...
