Can fitPC2 (1.21) support WakeOnLan with modifications?

Hallo!
fitPC2 for me is the best suited fitPC currently available (less power and PCIe port). I would save so much more energy, if I could wake up fitPC2 with WOL. The RTL8111C is supporting WOL. Would it be possible to implement this for fitPC2 to? If not, what is the problem in detail? Is the ethernet chip not powered in STR mode?
It would be very nice, if you can help me with this problem!
